Lulu Run

Lulu Run is a running action game developed and published by UNIT5, a casual game studio based in Seoul, South Korea. It was released on 21 July 2020 and is playable on iOS, Android, itch.io and in a web browser on CrazyGames. The game is free to download, carries a 4+ content rating and is localised into 15 languages.

Lulu Run is a platformer played in portrait orientation with two buttons: jump and roll. Holding the jump button longer sends Lulu higher, and the roll can be triggered in mid-air as a dive, which turns two simple inputs into a range of movements rather than a fixed pair of actions.

Each map is a hand-built course rather than a randomly generated one. Low, narrow obstacles are cleared by rolling, moving monsters can be stomped for extra height, and the coins laid along the route double as a hint about where the safe line runs. Three pieces of Cubistone are hidden in every map, usually in the places that are hardest to reach.

The story of Lulu Run sets the Pumpkin Mage against the creatures of Cubie World, who have been thrown into confusion by his misuse of the Cubistone. Collecting the scattered pieces is what puts things right, and it also unlocks special costumes. Chapters introduce new monsters and settings from the same world, with bonus zones that pay out on a clear.

Two buttons, many moves

Lulu Run gives you a jump button and a roll button. Jump height depends on how long the button is held, so short taps and long presses land in different places. The roll works on the ground and in the air, where it becomes a dive that drops Lulu quickly — useful when a jump has carried too far.

Reading the course

Obstacles in Lulu Run come in shapes that ask for different answers: high ones are jumped, low and narrow ones are rolled under, and monsters can be stomped to bounce higher than a normal jump allows. The coins placed along each route are laid out on the safe line, so following them is a reliable hint when a section is unfamiliar.

Cubistones and costumes

Every map in Lulu Run hides three pieces of Cubistone, and they are placed where a clean run alone will not reach them — collecting all three usually means taking a harder route on purpose. Gathering Cubistones unlocks special costumes for Lulu, and chapters open onto new areas and monsters from Cubie World.
